DRAFT. This policy is written in plain language and good faith, but it has not yet been reviewed by a lawyer. It will be finalized before any public launch.
The short version: the game knows almost nothing about you, and we like it that way.
La version courte : le jeu ne sait presque rien de vous, et c'est voulu.
What the game collects / Ce que le jeu recueille
- No account. No tracking. No analytics. No ads. No location. The game runs entirely in your browser.
- Your progress (your character, confidence, stamps, invitations) is saved in your own browser's storage (localStorage) on your own device. It is never sent to us. Clearing your browser data deletes it.
- The 18+ checkbox is a self-declaration. We do not ask for or store your birthdate or ID. (We follow the Privacy Commissioner of Canada's principle of using the least intrusive age check that fits the risk.)
What the two forms collect / Les deux formulaires
- The feedback and waitlist forms collect what you type — usually a name and email — for exactly one purpose each: responding to your feedback, and emailing you about Bilingua Quest's launch. Nothing else, ever.
- Form submissions are processed and stored by our hosting provider, Netlify, in the United States, and could be accessible to authorities there under US law.
- We will never sell, rent, trade, or share the list. We delete stale submissions periodically.
- Any email we send will identify us, include a working unsubscribe, and honour it within 10 business days (per Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation).
Your choices / Vos choix
- Want your name/email corrected or deleted? Email us — we'll do it and confirm.
- Want a copy of what we hold about you? Same email. (It will be very short.)
- Not satisfied? You may contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
If this ever changes / Si cela change
Future versions (real accounts, real event registration) will collect more, and this policy will be rewritten, dated, and reviewed by a lawyer before those features launch — with a privacy impact assessment for anything touching meetups. Location features, if they ever exist, will be opt-in, foreground-only, and never store movement history.
